Sunny Days

Seriously? No one is willing to share their self image issues. I can post them anonymously. Or you can. Anyway. Maybe we'll start with a lighter topic.

Your Favorite Healthy Recipe or Snack

Mine is a snack because I can't cook, I'm going to learn though. I love laughing cow cheese (just one wedge) spread over a wasa sesame cracker. I know we may have discussed this but that's my favorite so I have no choice but to be redundant.

In other news I miss all of you. It must be a busy time of year for everyone, I know it has been for me. Anytime you feel like dropping a line it's lovely to hear from you.

Much Love,

Lula Mae

  1. sorry - i meant to comment! i have both self image issues and favorite snacks/recipes! sii#1: lately, my skin. i've never had really bad skin. it's not really bad now, but it's hard to deal with occasional breakouts when you're starting to notice dry patches and wrinkles that are associated with aging. when i'm having a "bad skin day" i feel about 1 inch tall. sii#2: back fat, meaning all the fat you see from the back. i think i would actually be ok if i could do-see-do through life, never showing anyone the backside of my body. i have more ssi's, but i'd rather talk about food. Healthy snacks: Greek 2% fage yogurt with the little side compartment of jam, low fat cottage cheese with cereal on top (puffins or HN cheerios), trail mix with nuts, seeds and dark choc chips, garlic bread pretzel "nibblers" (ok, not super nutritious, but they're low cal and have all natural ingredients), pistachios, chipotle pepper hummus and wasa (i also love laughing cow, too!) ...there are more because i'm a huge snacker. as far as meals go, i've actually gotten really pretty good at cooking. i sometimes get adventurous and download recipes, but i mostly keep on hand garlic, olive oil, salt/pepper and lemons and saute or bake pretty much everything - chicken, fish, veggies. oh, and i added this one seemingly weird recipe to my repertoire - saute minced red onion, garlic, capers, sliced baby tomatoes and anchovies (yes, the little fishies) in olive oil and then once it's cooked down, tossed with angel hair pasta. garnish with salt/pepper, parsely and parm cheese...this is a long comment...

  2. also: oatmeal. i've started buying the steel cut kind, which is better for you. and then i can flavor it however i want. usually i mix in peanut butter, tons of cinnamon, nutmeg and a little brown sugar. i usually put 1/2 banana on it, too.

  3. well, I gained .5 pounds back. I know I was going to...I had homemade choc. cookies for lunch and dinner one day, and then candy for lunch another day, and then chips...so the fact I only gained 1/2 a pound back is amazing. But this really affected my self-image this week. I know it is stupid...I probably already lost that weight today, but then I already thought my face looked fat and my double chin was coming back. So, I went to my stylist and dyed my hair blonde again...that made me feel better and I would rather fork over the money than eat any more.
I'm worried though...I am going to the city for two weekends in a row and then I am going to Europe....I just hope that I don't eat my way through these places.
My favorite healthy snack is rice cakes...lame I know, but I really like them :)

  4. Well remember when you travel you might eat differently but you are also going to be walking around and exercising a lot. All hope is not lost. We are doing this Sara, we're doing it together.
